Inspired by a picture of my dad when he attended diving school.
The reference image had an other worldly quality to the composition.

Entering an access hatch through in the middle of an empty field, the forms bleed into the wet paper.
These blends of colour are accompanied by an energetic pass of detailed brushwork that helped define the areas covered with loose masks throughout.

The end result is far from the literal interpretation of the photograph.
The process to confidently achieve the reproduction of my source material denies me the satisfaction of being spontaneous.
I lean more towards representational art when working in other mediums such as oil painting and with pencil drawings.
